When you’re coming to stay with us at Galloway View, it’s tempting to cosy up inside, light the fire and enjoy the views without going out in the cold. Whilst this a great way to spend your holidays, why not take a few hours to enjoy some of the great Christmassy events being held in the area and soak up the festive spirit on offer?

For those who are looking for something a little different, or are fans of dabbling in arts or crafts, why not join enjoy a Crafternoon Tea at Ernespie House Hotel? There are two events; on the 9th and 13th December and each lasts three hours with the chance to make Sakura Flower Origami Christmas Baubles and enjoy a festive afternoon tea with glass of Prosecco or warming hot chocolate. You're guided through the whole process by the talented Little Miss Vaughan, who also offers various other crafts workshops for adults and children.

Kirkcudbright Parish Church hosts a Christmas Tree Festival each year where local community groups and businesses decorate a little tree and they are all displayed in the Parish Church for people to come and enjoy. It’s a great little tradition and worth coming and looking at the stunning Church too. The church is usually open at weekends but their Facebook page is the best place to have a look for opening times. It’s a free event with donations being taken for Afganaid.

There’s an indoor market, Santa’s Grotto, carol singing, choirs, messy play, face painting, Christmas story telling and lots more. The event runs from midday to 4pm and promises to be a great Christmassy family day out.

This lovely little community cinema is a great asset to the area and worth enjoying whilst you stay with us. For those staying with us in January, there's a pantomime being held in the cinema from 16th - 20th January.

For adults, it’s worth trying some of the lovely festive coffees and hot chocolates that the great café on site has to offer. In addition, for adults there’s a Winter Wonderland Christmas Meal on 15th December, with arrival drinks, three course meal and coffee & mince pies to finish.

While you’re visiting it’s well worth enjoying one of the Christmas specials in the café and taking a look around the main shop and also the special Christmas shop that is temporarily open. It’s great for decorations and gifts.
