Whether you’re staying with us for a weekend or a full week, here’s how to make the most of it.

Beach Days on Your Doorstep

You don’t need to travel far from Galloway View to find a beach worth the walk down.

Sandgreen is a real hidden gem — a big beach with soft sand and fantastic views out towards Murray’s Isles. It’s a favourite for families and anyone happy to spend an afternoon pottering along the shoreline.

Mossyard, just a short drive away, has three sandy coves and a wide stretch of beach that appears as the tide pulls back. Bring a picnic, let the kids (or the dog) loose, and settle in.

Carrick and the Dhoon are two of the area’s most popular beaches, and it’s easy to see why — both are big, sandy, and come with rock pools that are made for an afternoon of exploring with small ones. Just remember to check tide times before you set off — the tide comes in quickly.

Long Evenings, Well Spent

One of the best things about Galloway summers, is how late the light lingers. That means more time on the water, more time on the beach and more time to enjoy your evening back at Galloway View.

Every stay includes access to our wood-fired sauna and cold plunge, which feel just as good after a warm beach day as they do on a chilly one. If you’re staying in Fleet View or one of our Snugs — Annabelle’s Den, Beth’s Bothy or Jack’s Hideaway — you’ll also have a private hot tub; perfect for watching our spectacular sunsets.

And When Its Dark…

Once the long summer evenings end, you’re in one of the best places in the world to look up and see a spectacular night sky. Galloway Forest is a designated Dark Sky Park and on a clear night the number of stars visible from here genuinely stops people in their tracks. Step outside, let your eyes adjust for ten minutes or so, and you’ll start picking out the Milky Way with nothing more than the naked eye.
