Staycation Destination: Galloway View

It's October and the days are getting shorter. Although there's not much we can say for certainty at the moment, one thing's for sure - brighter days are coming! The good news (and we certainly need as much of that as we can get, right?) is that Galloway View isn't just a fair-weather friend - we've lots to offer all year round, and in all weathers. It's your staycation destination!

Our popular two person luxury snugs are the perfect choice for a winter break - and our location at the gateway to the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park presents the perfect opportunity to marvel at the wonders of the winter night skies from the comfort of your hot tub just for two. And, if you're planning a family getaway we have two larger lodges - Fleet View which sleeps up to six, and Galloway View which accommodates up to four people.

"Staycation: a holiday spent in one's home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions"

What does Dumfries and Galloway have to offer the staycationer? We've got the lot - from sandy beaches to hill climbing and everything in between.

South West Coastal 300

Inspired by the North Coast 500 – that famous touring route in the Scottish Highlands – our very own smaller, more manageable South West Coastal 300 is a coastal and inland circular route taking in some of the most stunning roads in Scotland.

7 Stanes Mountain Biking

Dumfries and Galloway is firmly on the map as a mountain biking hotspot. The 7stanes are seven mountain biking centres right across the south of Scotland, from the Scottish Borders to Dumfries and Galloway where we host five of the seven 'Stanes'.

'Stane' is the Scots word for stone, and at each of the 7stanes locations, you'll find a unique stone sculpture - a stane - reflecting a local myth or legend.

Small Town Stars

You'll find some of the most unique small towns in South West Scotland - all with very different personalities and specialities! The harbour town of Kirkcudbright is known as the Artists Town, Castle Douglas is famous for its food - so it's the regional Food Town, and of course Wigtown - host to the famous annual Book Festival - is not surprisingly known as the Book Town - and you can even try your hand at running the local bookshop!

Find out more via the links below - but whatever you do, make sure you stay with us here at Galloway View - it's your ideal base for the best staycation destination!
